Holiday Parade & Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City has scheduled the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Parade to take place on Thursday, December 1, 2016!  The evening is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. with the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Library Park (321 South Myrtle Avenue).  Make plans to come out that evening and see the new festive holiday decorations that the City has planned for this very special event!

Following the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the City’s Holiday Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m.  The parade theme for this year is “A Historic Holiday”, honoring this year’s Grand Marshals, the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group, for all their great work towards historic preservation, and the development of the Neighborhood Compatibility Program. The parade is sponsored by the Monrovia Old Town Merchants, and will travel north on Myrtle Avenue from Chestnut Avenue to Palm Avenue. Come join us as Monrovia kicks off the holiday season!

Foothill Unity Center's Thanksgiving Food Distribution 2016

The City is proud to be partnering with the Foothill Unity Center for their annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution Events!  This year’s events will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, November 21, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ayers Hall in the Los Angeles County Arboretum
  • Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Foothill Unity Center here in Monrovia

To assist with this terrific event and cause, the City will be providing transportation for families to and from the Thanksgiving food distribution events through our Monrovia Transit program.  The Foothill Unity Center will be developing food baskets to hand out to “pre-qualified” low-income families to help spread some holiday cheer throughout the community.

To find out more about these events, or to volunteer for next month’s Holiday Food and Gift Distribution program coordinated by the Foothill Unit Center, please visit, or call (626) 358-3486.
