Suicide Prevention Outreach & Education Campaign

Dear Community Partner,

In the past 5 years our community has been sadly impacted by the loss of 5 lives to suicide.  The affected residents were under the age of 23, 4 of them in our school system.  We are talking about 1 lost life per year within this age group (keep in mind adults are being impacted as well).  As we continue with our "call to action" we invite you to a community planning meeting for our upcoming March 4 Balance Community Outreach and Education Campaign sponsored by Monrovia Healing Connections.  Our planning meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4th at 5PM at the Monrovia Community Center.

Monrovia Healing Connections Committee (suicide prevention task force made up of community members, City officials, students and MUSD staff) will be sponsoring a city-wide campaign, March 4 Balance, to coordinate, engage and execute a series of community outreach and educational events to raise awareness surrounding suicide and other related issues.

The campaign will kick-off at the Monrovia City Council meeting on Tuesday March 3rd with a proclamation by the City Council.  Then, between March 4th – 26th our Healing Connections Task Force will be visiting organizations such as service clubs, teen commissions, churches, and other community based gatherings to promote what we are doing locally to aid and support community members dealing with emotional and psychological issues.  Our BIG finale will take place on Thursday, March 26th with a community rally at Monrovia Library Park at 6PM.

We hope you will join us on our journey of connecting one soul at a time to a source of healing.  For more information feel free to email me or call 626 703 2398.  See you on February 4th.

MAP's Quarterly Meeting

Hello everyone!

Yesterday we posted that MAP’s January 17 quarterly meeting would be open to the public. We made a mistake, MAP’s quarterly meeting is only open to MAP Leadership Academy graduates.

We apologize for any confusion,
