Friends of the Monrovia Public Library September Half-Price Sale! Adult books and media marked with a pink dot are now just $1. Located just inside the Library, Friends Store hours are Monday-Wednesday 10am-5pm and Thursday-Saturday noon-5pm. All proceeds benefit the Monrovia Public Library.

The 9th Annual Action On Film International Film Festival runs from Friday 8-16 to Saturday 8-24-13 at the Krikorian Monrovia. AOFFEST is a cultural event. We showcase 480+ independent films from around the world, host several nightly parties at local restaurants and bars, and have a Black-tie Award Show.  Everyone is welcome.  Monrovia Residents please stop by the UPS Store on Myrtle for FREE SCREENING Tickets and Information. Come watch some incredible films, meet some exceptional filmmakers, and eat yummy popcorn with celebrities.

This is the final weekend for auditions for the San Gabriel Valley Choral Company

The San Gabriel Valley Choral Company is seeking new singers for its
2013-2014 Concert Season:


  • Saturday, October 26: "Songs in Darkness" - A supernatural evening in the stunning ambiance of the historic Aztec Hotel in Monrovia, featuring selections from Mozart’s Requiem; “Sure on this Shining Night” by Lauridsen; “Der Feuerreiter” by Wolf; and works by Gibbs, Mäntyjärvi, Strimple, Orbán, and Houston. 
  • Saturday, December 21: “Winter Portrait" - A celebration of Christmas, Hanukkah, and the winter season, featuring the music of Stroope, Rutter, Basler, Mäntyjärvi, and Baker, with brass ensemble and a holiday sing-along.
  • Saturday, April 5: "Alma y Corazon" (Soul and Heart) - Featuring Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez and “Romancero Gitano” by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco, along with music of Piazzola, Estevez, and Casals.
  • Saturday, June 21 & 28: “Pirates of Penzance" - An abridged, semi-staged version of the classic comic operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan.


The 10-minute audition will consist of a classical solo selection or excerpt and a short musicianship assessment. An accompanist will be provided.

Little Libraries

ANNOUNCEMENT:
FIG AVENUE “Little Libraries” have arrived

Where are the Little Libraries?
One is located at 147 East Fig Ave.  You can’t miss the little house on the pole in front of our home.

What are Little Libraries?
Little Libraries are a place to borrow, share , and give books, magazines and other literacy material.

Can people keep what they take from the Little  Library?
Sure, just open the “door” and take a book but remember sharing is caring

Can I bring things to donate to the Little Library?
Absolutely!  We encourage the sharing of family friendly & educational material for the entire community.

How long will the Little Library be at 147 East Fig Ave.?
As long as the Yuilles live in the house and we plan to keep it here for a nice, long time.
