Tips on Christmas Tree Recycling

Recycle your Christmas Tree

Just place your Christmas tree curbside on your regular trash collection day beginning December 26, 2013 through January 10, 2014.

Please remove all ornaments, tinsel, plastic bags, nails, lights, and plastic or metal stands; otherwise, trees will not be collected.

Flocked and fire retardant coated trees will be accepted.

After January 10, please trim branches and place in the green materials barrel.

City of Monrovia Santa Tours

This year, Monrovia will continue our tradition of celebrating the holiday season by touring Santa Claus around city streets on top of a fire engine.  Escorted by a police car and a decorated public works sleigh, Santa will provide candy canes to the public.  City employees will, again, volunteer their time to help make the program fun…

Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features seventeen Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas. Don’t Get Scammed by Utility Impostors

Don’t Get Scammed by Utility Impostors
Customers across the nation are being targeted by scammers who are demanding immediate payment on past due utility bills. Approximately 1,500 Southern California Edison (SCE) customers have received call this year, while more than 200 have become victims.
SCE wants to remind their customers to be aware of utility impostors. According to SCE’s Consumer Affairs Manager Marlyn Denter, it is important for customers to be alert and be aware when they receive calls from individuals demanding money for payment.
“SCE will never call a customer to collect or demand money for past due bills,” said Denter. “We are not in the business of threatening our customers with the termination of service.”
Denter continued to emphasize that there are ways for customers to protect themselves. The following are tips to help customers protect themselves from these scam artists: Ask for the person’s name and call back number, a super…
