Neighborhood Highlight

Let’s hear it for the Monrovia Bears! No, I don’t mean those ones rummaging through your trash at night, I’m talking about the very social and very active Monrovia residents who recently launched a neighborhood website through, naming themselves…yep, the Monrovia Bears!

So what has this neighborhood done to drum up so much excitement?

Volunteer day

When one resident noticed a home that was terribly overgrown, she helped her neighbor by organizing volunteers to come and help with the yard work.

Noticing the lack of trick-or-treaters on North Alta Vista, a couple started decorating their yard in a most amazing way with glowing figures, tomb stones, fog machines and scary music. Live Ghouls hand out the treats o those brave enough to enter… Johnny and Vicky have been doing this for the past 18 years adding to their spectacle each year. Over the years, many more on the block began adding to the night. Now the residents block off the street for safety so treat-or-treaters from near and far can fully enjoy the fun! 2012 will be the 5th annual Halloween Block Party (open to ALL) and if you take the time to visit, you'll find haunted looking homes, dogs dressed to the nines and bus-loads of the friendliest folks around.

Delgado Brothers sponsorship

Determined to increase the number of Summer Concerts available to the community, neighbors pooled their money and contacted one of their own (Joey Delgado) to add an additional performance to this year’s lineup. You can catch the Delgado Brothers (and I'm sure many residents from this neighborhood) at Library Park on July 22nd.

Monrovia Bears are NEXTDOOR
Most recently, this neighborhood has used their new neighborhood website as a source for communicating with each other and even offering professional discounts to their neighbors!

Great job guys!
