Do You Own Property Here in Monrovia?

Attention Property Owners
The Baldwin Park Housing Authority (BPHA) is inviting ALL property owners to list their vacant rental unit(s) in the BPHA’s rental listing for Section 8 families in need of affordable housing. We accept all types of rental units of all bedroom sizes in the following five (5) cities: Baldwin Park, West Covina, El Monte, South El Monte, and Monrovia.
Benefits of Providing Rental Units to Section 8 Participants:
  • Guaranteed Rent: You will receive a guaranteed monthly payment on the first of every month and Section 8 tenants are required to pay their portion on time as well. Section 8 tenant’s rent portion is based on the household’s income; therefore, you will receive your monthly rent even if your tenant experiences a financial hardship.
  •  Higher Rents: As of July 1, 2016 BPHA has increased the Payment Standards to the 100% fair market rent.
  • Longer-Term Renters: Section 8 tenants are likely to stay for a longer time than private pay tenants; as a result, the vacancy rate can be lower resulting in higher profits.
  • Incentives to Maintain the Property: The Section 8 program requires tenants to maintain the rental property in decent, safe, and sanitary conditions at all times. BPHA provides a free annually home inspection conducted by a professional inspector. This incentive can help protect your investment.
  • Wider Access: BPHA recently opened the waiting list and accepted 2,000 applications. By accepting Section 8, your property becomes marketable to a wider pool of tenants which gives you a better chance of getting your unit rented.

Free Advertising! You can list your property unit(s) for free to the BPHA’s Unit listing which is available online and at the BPHA’s office. For more information or to list your property unit(s) please visit BPHA’s website at: www.baldwinpark.com or contact BPHA at (626) 869-7500 ext. 552.

“The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more”

Someone once said that “The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more”.
On August 10, our friends at Orchard Supply Hardware Monrovia were gracious enough to give our wonderful program an opportunity to do just that with this generous donation! OSH, who believes whole-heartedly in neighbors helping neighbors became our newest sponsor! They believe in the hard work that we are all doing together and wanted to be a part of it. we are so excited to put this money to good use here in the community, specifically with our Care for Your Neighbor program, which helps ALL OF US! We are so excited to be able to help out more of our neighbors with the help of OSH and you, MAP Leaders!

MAP's 10th Anniversary Party

Some History: The Monrovia Area Partnership program was initiated in 2006. This year marks our 10th Anniversary of City staff partnering with our residents, businesses and local service organizations to build Community by decreasing crime, blight, and resident apathy by encouraging civic engagement. The “Kick-Off” of the MAP program was focused in one of our neighborhoods – MAP Area #1 where (at the time) there was a significant increase in crime, blight and resident apathy.  In an effort to assess resident needs and gain trust, block parties were held in this neighborhood.  The block parties were affectionately titled “Hot Dogs, Hot Links and Hot Topics”. They allowed for residents to safely and comfortably meet with and get to know City staff and to interact with their neighbors again.   Feedback from those block parties helped to form the MAP program into the citywide program and philosophy that we have today of Partnering Together for a Better Monrovia.

What better way to celebrate MAP’s 10th Anniversary than to go back to where it all began – A block party in MAP Area #1.

MAP will be having a block party at Julian Fisher Park on Saturday, July 9, the same night we have a scheduled movie night in our Summer Night Movie Series. This block party will be a celebration for all of our departments, partners, MAP Leaders, family, friends and residents of the city. The Celebration will include the following;
• Free (Beef) Hot Dogs, (Pork) Hot Links
• Free Popcorn
• City booths available to advertise upcoming programming
• Community Partners who support MAP
• Activities for kids and families
• Movie Night (Hotel Transylvania 2)
